Shark Tank India 4: Vineeta Singh Criticizes Pitchers’ Business Setup; Anupam Mittal Responds
Shark Tank India, now in its fourth season on Sony LIV, entertains with innovative company concepts and fierce negotiations. Aastha and Radesh, from Jaipur, presented their silver jewelry firm Shyle in a recent show, but the Sharks were upset.
The Pitch
After nine years of marriage, Aastha and Radesh founded Shyle in 2017 with an initial investment of ₹7 lakh. Instead of seeking outside capital, they concentrated on steady expansion to avoid financial risks. Their product line spans 17 categories.
The Sharks were pleased with their aggressive pitch, vast choice of items, low price, and personal anecdotes about marriage and business.
Vineeta Singh Questions Their Business Model
During the pitch, Vineeta Singh discovered that Aastha owned the sole proprietorship, while Radesh earned ₹1.5 lakh per month as a consultant. The pair said their setup optimized taxes. Vineeta called it a “jhol” (questionable arrangement). She worried about their low consumer retention.
The pair demanded ₹70 lakh for 1% business equity.
Sharks Offer
Ritesh Agarwal and Namita Thapar pledged ₹70 lakh for 1.5% equity and 1% royalty until their investment was returned. In contrast, Anupam Mittal offered ₹1.4 crore for a 5% ownership.
The Controversial Remark
Anupam Mittal heard Radesh say, “Baad mein dekh lenge” (We’ll see later), which heightened tensions during discussions. The pair denied making this comment, but Anupam and Vineeta were furious.
Aupam deemed the comment “completely unacceptable,” and Vineeta warned them about hurting their name by breaking a royalty agreement.
Final Deal
Ultimately, the couple accepted Namita and Ritesh’s amended offer of ₹70 lakh for 1.5% equity and 0.5% royalty. After the deal, they said they didn’t want Anupam’s offer.
The episode showed Shark Tank India‘s problems and tough negotiations, keeping viewers captivated by every deal.
